Burger & Beer Joint, a South Florida full-service restaurant franchise, will open its restaurant in place of Culpeppers, which closed late January.
The new location on University Boulevard is less than a mile from UCF and will join other recently opened franchises up the road including 4 Rivers, Wawa and RaceTrac.
Bill Herman, Burger & Beer Joint’s brand development manager and director of planning, said that the lease was signed last month and the restaurant is slated to open in early May if there are no construction delays. He added that Burger & Beer joint is in the process of both inside and outside construction on the 6,000-square-foot space.
“It’s gotta look like a Burger & Beer joint, so we’re focused on that right now,” Herman said.
Herman said the location will begin its hiring process in April and will bring about 60 new jobs to the area.
The franchise is also looking for a second location in Orlando closer to International Drive. Herman said what sets Burger & Beer Joint apart from other burger locations nearby is that it features gourmet burgers, a full menu and full bar. The restaurant has a sports and rock ’n’ roll theme.
The restaurant also features a novelty 10-pound motherburger that can be ordered ahead of time to feed a group of people.
Herman plans for the location to be a supportive part of the UCF community and it may be open for events or scholarship opportunities.
Burger & Beer Joint plans to reach a total of 50 locations in the next five years with two to three stores opening each year.
